Analysis of Benzoic Acid in Drink Using ID-LC/MS
نویسندگان
چکیده
An analytical method was developed for the accurate determination of benzoic acid in commercial quasi-drug drinks using isotope dilution liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (ID-LC/MS). Sample drinks were spiked with C6-benzoic acid and these mixtures were cleaned by a nylon membrane filter. The sample mixtures were then analyzed using LC/Tandem MS in the negative ion mode without further clean-up or extraction steps. For the chromatographic separation, a C18 column with isocratic mobile phase of 50:50 (v/v) ammonium acetate buffer at pH 4.5 and methanol mixture was used. MS was operated with electrospray ionization in the negative mode. Benzoic acid and its isotope analogue were detected by selectively monitoring the collisionally-induced dissociation channels of [M-H]− → [M-CO2H] − at m/z 121 → 77 and m/z 127 → 83, respectively. Repeatability and reproducibility studies showed that the ID-LC/MS/MS method is a reliable and reproducible method which can provide less than 0.3% of relative standard deviation (RSTD) of method precision for analysis of benzoic acid.

Influence of Coffee Intake on the Urinary Ha
Intake of foods and drinks containing benzoic acid influences the urinary hippuric acid (HA) concentration, which is used to monitor toluene exposure in Japan. Therefore, it is necessary to control the intake of benzoic acid before urine collection. Recently, some reports have suggested that components of coffee, such as chlorogenic, caffeic, and quinic acids are metabolized to HA. In this stud...
متن کاملSimultaneous determination of asenapine and valproic acid in human plasma using LC–MS/MS: Application of the method to support pharmacokinetic study
Combination of asenapine with valproic acid received regulatory approval for acute treatment of schizophrenia and maniac episodes of bipolar disorders. A simple LC-MS/MS method was developed and validated for simultaneous quantification of asenapine and valproic acid in human plasma. Internal standards were added to 300 μL of plasma sample prior to liquid-liquid extraction using methyl tertiary...

متن کاملImproved reference measurement method for hemoglobin A1c by use of liquid chromatography-isotope dilution-tandem mass spectrometry.
We have developed an improved reference measurement method for hemoglobin A1c (Hb A1c) 1 based on liquid chromatography–isotope dilution–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ID-MS/MS) with traceability to the SI unit. The method has a small measurement uncertainty (MU) and gives results in good agreement with the accuracy-based IFCC reference method. Kaiser et al. (1 ) demonstrated the possibility of u...
متن کاملRapid ion-exchange matrix removal for a decrease of detection limits in the analysis of salt-rich reservoir waters for fluorobenzoic acids by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry
A matrix removal procedure with ion-exchange resin prior to analysis for 18 fluorinated benzoic acids (FBAs) tracers in saline (>25% salt) reservoir water was optimized. The elimination of >98% of salt and the simultaneous matrix sample cleanup allowed the direct analysis using the supernatant by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). This resulted in a gain in ...
